forhelovesme:

We say things like, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” and “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Then we live and plan like we don’t believe God even exists. We try to set our lives up so everything will be fine even if God doesn’t come through. But true faith means holding nothing back. It means putting every hope in God’s fidelity to His promises.
Our greatest fear as individuals and as a church should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.
If life were stable, I’d never need God’s help. Since it’s not, I reach out for Him regularly. I am thankful for the unknowns and that I don’t have control, because it makes me run to God.

“Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines…Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” (Habakkuk 3:17–18, NKJV)
We all have dreams and goals that God has placed in our hearts, things we’re believing for, situations we’re praying will turn around. These promises start off like seeds. They don’t come to pass overnight. There’s always a period of waiting involved. From the time we pray till the time we see it come to fulfillment, that’s called the trial of our faith. This is when many people get discouraged and give up. They start believing the negative thoughts, “It’s never going to happen. It’s taken too long.” Now, that seed is lying there dormant, but it’s still alive. It still has potential. You have to do your part and start watering the seed. The way you water it is by thanking God in advance and declaring His Word. You can’t wait until you receive the promise. You have to thank God that the answer is on the way!
Today, no matter what you are facing, know that God is greater than all of it. He has the answer and is working for your good behind the scenes. All through the day say, “Father, thank You that whatever I touch prospers and succeeds. Thank You that Your favor surrounds me like a shield.” Thank God in advance, water those seeds of faith, and take hold of every promise He has for you!

Scandal of Grace

Something so amazing just happened. I asked Jesus what did i do to deserve such goodness and favour.

Then He pointed me to the cross.

How scandalous is this Grace.

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised)” (Hebrews 10:23, KJV)

“Hold fast” is not a phrase we often use in this culture. But in the original Greek, hold fast means not only to embrace, but to embrace with force as if someone is trying to take something from you. In other words, you’ve got to have a firm grip or you’re going to lose out! And notice what we are supposed to hold fast to—our profession, our declaration of faith.

I like to think of it sort of like a tug of war. You’re on one end and the enemy is on the other. He’s trying to pull that rope out of your hand. He’s trying to steal your hope and get you to speak negative words of doubt and unbelief. But you’ve got to be determined and stand strong. You’ve got to persevere and hold fast. Don’t let the enemy pull the seed of faith out of your heart! You might need to dig your heals in and get a new grip, but don’t you dare let go! Keep speaking words of faith. Keep speaking words of hope. Keep declaring God’s Word and keep holding fast to the profession of your faith!

How sweet is my Jesus, who just gave me yet another pleasant surprise. Was grinning from ear to ear for over a minute hehe :D

NUS Open Day 2013!

1. The school murdered an entire forest (or a few, i won’t be surprised) with the mountains and truckloads of brochures printed for prospective students.

2. The school place a Coca-Cola plastic bottle recycling machine in Utown, in hope to offset its carbon footprint (my foot… no pun intended).

3. I was a roving BBA ambassador stationed outside the walkway but more approached me to ask for directions than to enquire about business school.

4. I often led many of them, students and parents, in the wrong direction. (not on purpose, only my second time at Edusports aka Stephen Riady Centre)

5. Unknowingly, and blur-ly, i attempted to give out the biz brochures to current nus students who are also promoting their faculty/hall/residence/cca.

6. Moved back into hall 1 after my shift was up. (PTL aircon!)

7. Answered questions posted by prospective students and concerned parents.

8. Questions were so similar that i ended up talking about the same thing the entire time. Sounded a lot like a recorder on replay.

9. Drank tons of water from the tons of bottled mineral water provided… and at the same time not making an effort to recycle the bottles.

10. Took a stick of Redondo just before leaving, which translates into my only meal nutrient intake the entire morning. Thanks Lenard. ;)

And last but certainly the most…

11. I GOT TO TALK TO MARK. He’s just the bestest bestest bestest tutor one can get in university. :D

8 Traits of a Confident Woman
1. She’s had enough. When you’ve had enough of living for someone else, pleasing others, craving others’ approval or of those who bind your life with theirs; when you’ve had enough of the fear of confronting someone or are ready to stand up for yourself, you’re walking in your God-given confidence. When you are ready to step out of these types of situations and follow God fully, you are a confident woman.
2. She doesn’t concentrate on her weaknesses but instead she develops and maximizes her strengths. She discovers her strengths and asks God to help her
3. She believes in her values. She can confidently say about herself the same things that God says about her. She sees herself as God sees her no matter what anyone has ever said to her or about her. She is grounded in her identity in Christ.
4. She allows God to work through her flaws. We all have flaws. Not one of us is perfect. She loves herself in a balanced and healthy way and never despises or rejects herself.
5. She takes care of herself. This means to take care of yourself first and foremost before taking care of others. This is not selfish. What does the airline hostess say about the oxygen mask? “In the event of an emergency, put your oxygen mask on first then assist someone else.”
6. She knows her strengths. Take inventory of yourself and think about what you are good at, perhaps something you have not noticed. Make a list of what you are good at. Whatever you are good at is the area God has gifted you. This is what you must serve to the world.
7. She gets out of the boat and doesn’t sink. A confident woman gets out of her past and all that’s associated with it. She doesn’t murmur and complain about missing out on life because of her past. She doesn’t hide her past and she knows she will never be free if she keeps running away from her past. She is no longer stuck in her past and her past is no longer stuck in her.
8. She never stops trying. A confident woman recovers from setbacks. She is in charge of her destiny and keeps trying different things until she discovers what she is here on this earth to do. She will experience some set-backs, some disappointments but she never stops trying until she discovers her place. This place will feel right to her.

So here we go – wallpapers for New Creation Church’s Theme of 2013: The Key of David (Isaiah 22:22). Took my time to do up this one as the theme of the year really anchors what we believe for the upcoming months and I wanted it to be something I would really want to have as my phone/desktop wallpaper for most of the year ahead.

I’ve done it up in three different colors so there’s something for everyone. :) This was hand-drawn, scanned and worked on in illustrator and photoshop.
